January 28th 2011: Before Canada’s Finance Ministers met in Kananaskis, our Alberta chapters wrote to then Finance Minister Ted Morton encouraging him to support CPP enhancement as well as supplementary pension plans. Read CARP’s letter to Minister Morton

The Minister’s response suggests that despite his public objection to CPP enhancement, it is still on the table to be again discussed in June 2011.

Suddenly this week, Premier Ed Stelmach resigned and Minister Morton resigned to run for the leadership. Where that leaves Alberta’s position on pension reform in anyone’s guess.
