Happy Seniors’ Month!
In 2007, the World Health Organization created a Checklist of Essential Features of Age-Friendly Cities (find checklist here) The Windsor Seniors Advisory Committee has received a grant from the New Horizons for Seniors Program to survey the “age-friendliness” of Windsor.
The first, most important, phase of this project includes consultation with Windsor residents. As a result, we are conducting ward meetings to consult with Windsor citizens 55+ about their opinion of the age-friendliness of Windsor. The results from this survey will help inform future phases of the project. Those meetings have been scheduled throughout the month of June. I’ve attached the schedule of ward meetings.
To register for a meeting for your ward, CALL 311.
Please encourage your clients, friends, family, and anyone you know who is 55 or better to attend.
Some things to know:
– It is a structured meeting, not an open forum. Participants will be guided through a series of questions. We will be using voting buttons to tabulate results and a full report will be presented to City Council and made available to the public later this year.
- The ability to read from a PowerPoint screen will be required.
- City Councillors will be present.
- At each ward meeting, space is limited to the first 50 registrants.
- Just in case, I’ve included a ward map (you may be prompted to choose a program. Adobe works nicely.).
- Each location is wheelchair accessible.
