The OSGA 55+ Games

The Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA) 55+ Games are geared towards adults over the age of 55. These games have been designed to attract amateur athletes to help promote an active and healthy lifestyle. The District Summer Games occur annually in the 41 District across Ontario. There are also District Winter Games that occur every winter in several Districts as well.

This year most District Summer Games are happening throughout the months of May and June.  Each District Committee decides on which events to host within their own District. The most popular events within Districts are 5-Pin Bowling, Carpet Bowling, Lawn Bowling, Golf, Cycling, Pickleball, Slo-pitch, Floor Shuffleboard, Euchre, Bid Euchre, Swimming, Contract Bridge, Tennis, Darts, Prediction Walking, Bocce, Cribbage, and Horseshoes.

The events included in the Winter Games are Alpine Skiing, Badminton, Curling, Duplicate Bridge, Hockey, Nordic Skiing, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Skating and 10-Pin Bowling.

The Ontario 55+ Summer (Actifest) and the Ontario 55+ Winter (Winterfest) Games are the respective summer and winter provincial games.  In the majority of scenarios, Districts are able to register their first place finishers in each event to represent their District at the Ontario 55+ Games.  The next Ontario 55+ Summer Games will be in Windsor/Amherstburg in August of 2014 and the next Ontario 55+ Winter Games will be hosted by Haliburton County in February of 2015.

The OSGA also supports Regional District Games. These Games occur in non-provincial games years. There are 5 different regional games scheduled for the summer of 2013 in Southwestern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe Region, Greater Toronto Area, Central Ontario and Eastern Ontario.
