About The 519 Education and Training Department

The 519 Education and Training Team offers a broad range of LGBTQ workshops to support safe and inclusive environments and can support the facilitation, development and implementation of LGBTQ inclusion policies.

During June and July 2014, the team delivered a broad range of workshops to support safe and LGBTQ inclusive working environments. Over 380 front line staff, leaders, executives, managers, and HR professionals participated in the training. To complement the workplace inclusion curriculum, the Education and Training Department developed a new campaign inspired by Stonewall’s #nobystander campaign in the United Kingdom. The Hear It! Stop It! #nobystanders campaign aims to eliminate homophobic and transphobic language in the workplace by asking individuals to take the following pledge: “I will never be a bystander to homophobic or transphobic language. If I hear it, I will stop it. By adding my name I commit to standing up for human rights for everyone and never be a bystander.” The goal is for everyone to feel they are able to be themselves at work, free from bullying and abusive language. The Hear It! Stop It! #nobystanders campaign was introduced to everyone who received our LGBTQ Workplace Inclusion training.
