CARP Victoria – Volunteers needed for committee’s

CARP Victoria has established committees to plan, organize and host events and activities for our members. We are asking for volunteers for these Committees, which are listed below. The Committees are where things happen and the work get done, as well as being interesting and fun.

Please look at the Committee descriptions, and choose one that interests you.

 

ADVOCACY COMMITTEE will advocate for awareness of and improvement to conditions for our aging population including pensions; end of life issues; driving regulations; continuum of care including home assisted; in care options; respite for caregivers; health care; taxation benefits to caregivers, AND other important issues; write monthly report for our newsletter Time Commitment:

  • Monthly meeting to discuss, select and plan advocacy events
  • Assist in organizing and setting up events on an as needed basis

 

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

  • Produce newsletter
  • Send out Newsletter to membership
  • Establish and maintain calendar for Victoria chapter website and for newsletter
  • Design and distribute promotional material for events as needed
  • Send information/invitation to all members about general meetings
  • Send information/invitation to all members about upcoming events
  • Write monthly report for our newsletter

Time Commitment:

  • Monthly meeting to plan and organize
  • Perform tasks as required

EVENTS AND EDUCATION COMMITTEE: This Committee will plan and organize events that promote awareness of issues of importance to our members and that educate and inform our members, and to write a monthly report for the newsletter. Issue may include Pensions; driving; continuance of care; RRIFs and investment strategies; personal legal planning tools; health Events may include information sessions with professional speakers; panels, conversation cafes, classes and other formats. Time Commitment:

  • Monthly meeting to discuss, select and plan advocacy events
  • Assist in organizing and setting up events on an as needed basis

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE will create and maintain a current list and database of active members; create and maintain list of non-active members; contact non-active members periodically to invite personally to events and meetings; establish a phone tree for non-email members; make membership applications and other relevant material available at all events and answer questions about membership; submit membership applications and check to make sure applicant received appropriate materials in timely fashion; track membership deadlines and contact members for renewal; and to write a monthly report for the newsletter Time Commitment:

  • Monthly meeting
  • Attendance at events
  • Ongoing membership tasks

RECREATION AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE: This is the group that plan events that are for fun and socializing. They come up with ideas for events; plan and organize; participate in advertising; maintain a list of relevant contacts; and write a monthly report for the newsletter. Time Commitment:

  • Monthly meeting to discuss, select and plan advocacy events
  • Assist in organizing and setting up events on an as needed basis
