Notice is here by given that CARP Edmonton Chapter 13 will be holding it’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday, May 19, 2016.

MEETING LOCATION:  OLD TIMERS CABIN, 9430 Scona Rd ,

TIME:    09:00AM – 1:00 PM

GUEST SPEAKER:  The Honorable Lori Sigurdson, Alberta Minister of Seniors.

A light lunch will be served.

Price for Lunch:  Members: $5.00; Non-members  $10.00

CARP EDMONTON CHAPTER 13 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

Thursday, May 14, 2015

SAGE Auditorium

15 Winston Churchill Square, 100 St. & 102 Ave

Edmonton, Alberta

Call to Order: The AGM was called to order at 1:20 p.m.

Establishment of a Quorum was confirmed by Nizar Shivji.   60 members were in attendance.

Approval of AGM 2014 Minutes:

Moved by Shirley Strabinsky, Seconded by Ray Borlee that the minutes are accepted as distributed.

Report on Financial Statement Review:

Treasurer Bernice Cassady reviewed the Income statement for 2014 noting that the bank balance December 31, 2014 was $ 1155.70. There was a decline in National Royalties to $700.00 from $1732.50 the previous year.

Approval of Financial Statement

Moved by Bernice Cassady, seconded by John Gurke. Carried

Bernice Rempel presented “Your Voice in Advocacy Chair Report, as attached to the AGM Document.

CARP Edmonton Advocacy efforts were acknowledged in a slideshow presentation highlighting the advocacy activities promoted in 2014. Membership Communication methods used during the year included CARP Website, E-Newsletter and Automated Telephone calls.

Membership recognition:

Tony Sneep thanked Gerry Sparing and Carol Williamson for their efforts in contacting new and renewed members. Their phone calls welcomed the members and outlined opportunities available for them to play an active role in CARP Edmonton.

Confirmation of Directors:

The Nomination committee was established in February 2015. The committee members were Charlie Ponde, Bernice Cassady and Marta Sherk.

The committee presented the following candidates to serve the 2015 to 2017 term. Eligible for re-election were Bernice Cassady, Brian Hutchings, Charlie Ponde, Bernice Rempel and Tony Sneep.

Nominations presented for Board vacancies were Richard Perry and Hans Mooji.

A motion to accept the recommendations of the Nominating Committee was moved by Cynthia Lazarenko and seconded by Rick Brick. Carried.

Adjournment:

Being no further business, it was moved by Bernice Borlee and seconded by Sue Tully that the meeting be adjourned. Carried.

The Annual General Meeting adjourned at 2:00 pm

The meeting was followed by a performance entitled “Washing” by GeriActors and Friends. This is an original Work based on Stories and Issues from our Past.

Appreciation for their participation in the AGM was offered to:

  • Affinity Partners, IRIS Vision and Home Instead were present to meet with members to promote the valued products and services they provide for CARP Members.
  • SAGE for providing the AGM venue;
  • Volunteer information provided by Home Care Volunteers, Early Onset Dementia Alberta, CNIB;
  • Artist Patricia Kerek.
