CARP is a partner on the project between the City of Toronto and the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE) to bring an Intergenerational HomeShare Pilot Project to Toronto.

The Toronto HomeShare Pilot Project, funded by the Provincial Ministry of Seniors Affairs, is a direct result of the Toronto Seniors Strategy and is a City of Toronto initiative that NICE is partnering to implement and evaluate.

As part of this project, older adults who may have a spare room or space in their home are paired to host a university or college student for a semester. In exchange for reduced rental costs the student provides approximately 5-7 hours/week contributing to the dynamics of the home. This could include sharing a meal together, helping with light chores, running errands or walking a pet.

Do you know an older adult or student in Toronto who might benefit by participating in this program?
