MARISSA LENNOX

Marissa Lennox is the Chief Policy Officer at C.A.R.P. (Canadian Association of Retired Persons). For over four years, Marissa has worked to serve C.A.R.P.’s membership in each of its three key pillars of Advocacy, Benefits, and Community. She is a frequent commentator in the media, and also host of theZoomer, a current affairs roundtable discussion show on ZoomerMedia’s VisionTV, focusing on issues that matter most to Canadians 45+.

Marissa is a member of the Canada Post Accessibility Advisory Panel, the Retiree Advisory Panel for the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), and the Consumer Medication Incident Reporting Advisory Committee for ISMP Canada. Marissa holds an Honours degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Public Policy degree from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School at New York University.

Natasha Raey

Natasha Raey is a serial entrepreneur and consultant whose current work is focused on the health care, cannabis, and wellness industries. Natasha has managed the planning and development of large-scale health centers in both Vancouver and Toronto. Her work currently includes strategizing with her regional Health Authority in B.C., at the local community level, to implement a number of COVID-19-related initiatives.

In 2017, she opened Cadence Health Centre, a team-based multidisciplinary health centre and pharmacy in downtown Toronto. In 2014, she co-founded SheTalks Global, an annual speaker series and conference showcasing influential women in diverse fields. In 2020, Natasha founded Skye Cannabis Co., a retail cannabis store based in British Columbia. Most recently, in 2019, Natasha founded Bloom & Elix, an enterprise developing wellness and brain health supplements for women. She also serves as an independent business, marketing, and public relations consultant for a number of social enterprises, public institutions, and non-government organizations. Ms. Raey holds a Masters of health administration from The University of British Columbia, and a BSc, molecular biology and biochemistry (honours), from Simon Fraser University.

Bill vangorder

Chief Policy Officer, C.A.R.P.

Bill VanGorder is Chief Policy Officer and Chief Operating Officer for C.A.R.P. — A New Vision of Aging for Canada and was the Founding Chair of (2007) of the C.A.R.P. Nova Scotia Chapter. He is the immediate Past Chair of the Nova Scotia Advisory Committee on Seniors’ Issues to the Provincial Government (The Group of Nine) on which he has served for the past 12 years; 

Chair of the Serving Seniors Alliance Cooperative and longtime Board Member of the Theatre Arts Guild. From 1991 to 2007, Bill was the President and CEO of The Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Previously he spent 28 years with the YMCA, for the final 12 years as the Atlantic Area Director for the YMCA.

Bill is a graduate of Sir Wilfred Laurier University with a degree in Politics & Public Administration and is both a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE ).

Bill and his wife Esther live in Halifax Nova Scotia. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. And they have two cats Calli and Skye who run the house.

Yvonne Ziomecki

Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, HomeEquity Bank

Ms. Ziomecki, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, handles Marketing and Consumer Sales operations and is responsible for developing sales, marketing strategy and vision for HomeEquity Bank. Yvonne joined HomeEquity Bank in 2013 and in March 2020, became a newly published co-author of Home Run: The Reverse Mortgage Advantage.

CYNTHIA SCHINDLER

Director of Advertising & Public Relations, MyDignity

Cynthia’s background includes 10 years as a Behavioural Geriatric Specialist in long term care facilities. During that time she was part of an elite federal government team who developed practices to improve the quality of life for those requiring assistance. For the last 25 years, she has educated people on the benefits of specialty insurance products.

MILES POSNER

Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development, MyDignity

Miles has been an integral part of the Canadian long term care insurance industry for over 30 years and offers a wealth of knowledge and integrity. With the long term care crisis facing Canada and the issues associated with traditional insurance products, the creation of CARP Home Care Assistance was a natural progression for him.

Ashleigh Powell

Head of Community Dance Programs, Canada's National Ballet School

Ashleigh is a member of the Professional Program Artistic Faculty at Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS). In her role as NBS’ Head of Community Dance Programs, Ashleigh works with partners across the education, community programming and sport sectors to bring the widespread benefits of dance to all Canadians. 

A graduate with distinction from NBS’ Teacher Training Program, she is a recipient of the Carole Chadwick and the Betty Oliphant Awards. In addition, Ashleigh has worked extensively as a theatre choreographer and holds an Honours Degree in History and Sociology from the University of Toronto.

JIM CLOSS

President, Live Easy Inc.

Jim Closs runs his own Aging in Place consultancy & distribution business in Toronto, named Live Easy Inc. With thirty years of experience in the accessible design world, and involvement with the planning and execution processes of lift devices that remove barriers, Jim is keenly aware of the gaps in thinking, designing, and budgeting, when it comes to accessibility. Jim is also the Director of Education for Age Safe Canada and will discuss the Seniors Home Safety Specialist Course.

He believes that by joining forces with the CSRO and their active network, together they will bring more awareness to this important element of accessible design, especially as Canada takes large strides towards a more inclusive and accessible physical environment. Currently Live Easy has collaborated with the Bay Area Health Trust out of Hamilton, Ontario to form a boutique distribution house of products aimed at the AIP sector where they currently have the Canadian rights to Assistep, Gripo poles and Safety-Chair. BAHT in itself is a unique enterprise of a for-profit/non-profit, where they have been formed out of the Hamilton Health Science campuses and generated 7 distinct business arms that generate profits which are reinvested into the hospitals and McMaster University.

GREG CHARYNA

Owner/Director at Home Instead Saskatoon

Greg Charyna, has lived and worked as a broadcaster, administrator, pastor and chaplain before opening Home Instead Senior Care in 2008. He is passionate about enhancing the lives of older adults and supporting families by providing private care in home, hospital or other facilities.

Greg and his spouse/business partner, Karen, are part of the "sandwich generation" with their twenty-something son and daughter, Greg's mom in long term care in Vancouver and Karen's mom in Weyburn.
