The Zoomers’ group CARP – A New Vision of Aging – welcomes the province’s Patient First Action Plan for Health Care.

The health minister says the aim’s to prioritize patients by modernizing delivery and funding of care as well as increasing access.

CARP’s Susan Eng tells AM 740 News, ”if he (health minister) really means to have funding follow the patient thereby having to take it out of the hospital budget, out of the doctors’ budget and provide for more home care, which is what we have been calling for, then it is a fundamental change in healthcare funding.”

”Whatever happens in the (spring) budget will tell us whether or not this was just more lip service or a fundamental change in how healthcare’s going to be structured and funded.”
