Rita Milne “Outstanding Senior(s) of the Year” Award

The Board of CARP Okanagan is pleased to announce the 2015 “Outstanding Senior(s) of the Year” award, named in honor of long time Board member Rita Milne Award. We are seeking nominations for an Okanagan senior who best exemplifies the ideal qualities of an advocate: selfless, steadfast, reliable, compassionate and willing to go the extra mile to serve others – especially those most in need. An outstanding advocate serves first to help others find their voice; and then speaks for others if they are unable to.

ABOUT RITA
Rita Milne was an outstanding, dynamic and energetic volunteer for residents of the Okanagan. She worked tirelessly to establish the current Chapter of CARP Okanagan, inspiring all with her extensive knowledge of board administration and corporate and board management. Her humor, compassion, clarity of thinking, strategic vision, belief in democratic and inclusive process, and sheer elegance created an infectious dynamic for everyone with whom she worked. Her belief in civic duty and obligation to those less fortunate or without voice sparked a passion in her fellow volunteers. Her extensive contribution to improving the well-being of the Okanagan community included: Kelowna Chamber of Commerce; Downtown Kelowna Association; Lakeview Heights Community Association; Souls for Soles and the Shoe Bank; various riding associations; and, numerous community advisory committees (West Kelowna).
