BC NDP Responds to the CARP 5

For the provincial election on October 19, CARP has created a five point list of key issues, which are central to BC’s senior population. Called the CARP 5, they are:

  1. access to the finest vaccines;
  2. addressing the shortage in the province’s health care workers;
  3. funding better home care;
  4. providing tax relief to caregivers and for home adaptations;
  5. reducing transit fare for seniors. These agenda items speak to the concerns of BC elders in practical terms, addressing health, home care and financial issues. As the representatives of BC’s older citizens, CARP wants to know how each party will respond to our five provincial priorities.

In response to CARP’s request for every political party’s agenda regarding elders, the NDP has provided a detailed  program, in advance of the announcement of their complete platform. BC’s senior population, the vast majority of whom vote provincially, is over one million. All parties have been asked by CARP to offer their program to its members. The first to answer CARP is the NDP. Here is their response to the CARP 5.
