Curious about the CPP Fund? Attend the public meetings!

This October, you are invited to attend public meetings all across the country, hosted by CPP Investments, the organization responsible for managing the assets of the Canada Pension Plan.

This is an opportunity to learn more about how your CPP contributions are being invested to grow the CPP Fund, supporting more than 22 million Canadians in retirement. Attendees will have the chance to receive information and ask questions.

What is CPP Investments?

CPP Investments is the organization responsible for managing the assets of the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).

The CPP provides a foundational retirement income for most working Canadians. It is one of our country’s most important and most invaluable public policy achievements. It speaks to our shared values, provides vital support to our seniors and is envied around the world. Not only has the CPP served us well, but repeated reviews have found it is sustainable for generations to come.

CARP was instrumental in establishing the CPP Investment Board in 1997. The establishment of CPP Investments ensures investment decisions are made at arm’s length from governments, while maintaining strong public sector accountability to the federal and provincial finance ministers who serve as stewards.

Twenty-five years ago, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) received its first transfer of $12.1 million and began investing funds from the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) to help keep its pension promise to Canadians.

The CPP Fund is $646.8 billion and the seventh-largest pension fund in the world.

What are the public meetings?

CPP Investments is committed to transparency and accountability. Every two years, public meetings are held across Canada so individuals can learn firsthand how the CPP Fund is performing. This is an opportunity to learn more about how CPP contributions are being invested to grow the CPP Fund, supporting more than 22 million Canadians in retirement. Attendees will have the chance to receive information and ask questions, and Snacks and light refreshments light refreshments will be provided.
