CARP Makes B.C.’s Provincial Budget Submission 2026 & Calls for Expanded Programs

On June 20, 2025

CARP’s advocacy is not only responsive to policy change – it is proactive. Through pre-budget submissions, we aim to influence decision-making at the earliest stages, ensuring the needs of seniors at the front and centre in provincial planning. CARP National Office & our chapters in B.C. have submitted to the Government of British Columbia as part of the province’s 2026 pre-budget consultations. Our submission highlights urgent priorities that protect the health, independence and financial security of BC’s growing senior population.

Our submission focuses on three urgent priorities:

  1. Free Access to the Expert-Recommended Vaccines for Seniors
  2. Increasing Funding for Better Home Care
  3. Providing and Improving Tax Relief to Caregivers and Home Modifications for Seniors to Age at Home

CARP urges the BC government to take these recommendations into serious consideration. As the province’s senior population grows, failure to act risks overwhelming hospitals, and long-term care homes with family caregivers already stretched to their limits.
