National Seniors Day, October 1st, is our moment to celebrate the contributions of older Canadians and shine a spotlight on the issues that matter most to us.

This year, the focus has shifted. All eyes are on the economy.

Rising costs, inflation, and financial uncertainty are weighing heavily on Canadians of all ages.

Seniors are asking: Will my savings last as long as I do?

Younger Canadians are wondering: Can I ever build a nest egg big enough to retire?

That’s why CARP, together with our media partners at The Peak(readthepeak.com), are hosting a special National Seniors Day Intergenerational Panel on Retirement & Financial Security.

Together, we will bring seniors and younger generations into the same room—and the same conversation. The goal is to build mutual understanding of the financial challenges each group faces, and to push for solutions that raise all boats.

This panel will tackle the most urgent financial challenges facing Canadians:

  • Building and Protecting own Retirement nest egg
  • Protecting Old Age Security and defining the real costs of retirement
  • Exposing bank sales culture that disadvantages everyday investors – what you need to know about your investment options
  • Eliminating mandatory RRIF withdrawals that erode savings too quickly
  • Fighting financial exploitation and scams—made worse by Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Rejecting the false idea of “intergenerational warfare” and working toward fairness for all

By joining this conversation, you’ll be part of an effort to bridge generations, not divide them—building solidarity and demanding policies that secure retirement for older Canadians while creating fair opportunities for younger ones.
