Digital Card & New Membership Process
Many of you have been asking about this for some time now – CARP now offers a digital card that can be added to your digital wallet, downloadable to either your Android or iPhone.
I know my wallet is bursting with plastic cards of every kind. I am so glad to have this alternative option.
Now, I know many of you either do not have a smart phone or consider yourselves “not that techie”. No fear — we still have the option of sending you out a plastic wallet card. It is your choice!
Because we can save production and mailing costs, the digital option can be offered for $5 per membership less than the plastic card option. But, if you prefer, you can pay the extra $5 and you and a partner will each still get your cards in the mail when the Canada Post labour dispute is resolved – and that is another good reason to go digital.
You can renew/enroll online or by reaching out to the call centre and be given a one or two-year renewal option, with or without a physical card. In either case, you will receive a Welcome Letter followed by a second email a little later with your downloadable digital card. Be sure these emails are not ending up in your spam folder! Also be sure to have your wallet app open before adding the card.
In these early stages of the launch of the downloadable card, we can only send the email one time with the card. If you delete it entirely, we cannot reproduce it. Hopefully, we can address that limitation in future versions.
We do hope this helps to explain our updated enrolment process. It’s still simple and with options. And it’s still an incredible value for as little as $19.95 a year for two people.
FAQ
Is it possible to resend the email with the link?
The wallet email is only sent once and unfortunately cannot be resent. We recommend checking your junk or spam folder in case it was misdirected.
Alternatively, you may contact support@carp.ca to request a digital printable version of your card.
I renewed my CARP Membership, but never received my new card and information. Could you please resend it?
Due to the rising cost of doing business — and the fact that CARP has not increased its membership fee in over 10 years — there is now a $5 fee for mailing a physical CARP card. This applies to all auto-renewing and Rogers Wireless accounts. If a card was not requested or the fee was not paid at the time of renewal, a physical card will not be mailed. (This option is currently impacted by the Canada Post labour strike.)
When and how will I be notified about the renewal of my account?
CARP sends several renewal notices by email in the weeks leading up to your membership expiry date. We’ve phased out physical mail notices due to the unpredictable service of Canada Post and in efforts to optimize costs.
