Ontario’s Healthcare Crisis isn’t Decades Away – It is Here Now

November 24, 2025, was CARP’s Seniors’ Day of Action at Queen’s Park in Toronto, ON.  CARP President, Anthony Quinn, brought an important, non-partisan message to the over 45 assembled MPPs and 85 CARP Members – Ontario’s Age-Related Healthcare Crisis isn’t Decades Away – It’s Here Now!

Ontario is heading into the steepest demographic shift in its history, and signs of the healthcare system straining are already clear as day. In just over a decade, our 75+ population will grow by nearly 1 million people – the very age group that uses the most hospital, home care, and long-term care services. We are already seeing 15-30 hours of emergency room (ER) waits, staff shortages, and seniors stuck in hospital beds for weeks while they wait for care.

CARP’s message to Ontario’s MPPs is clear: prevention and home care must become the core strategy, not an afterthought. This means serious investment in fall prevention, chronic-disease management, caregiver support, home and community care, and proven cost-saving tools like vaccinations for influenza, COVID-19, shingles, pneumonia, and RSV.

This is not partisan. It is about dignity, safety, and preparedness for the people who built this province. CARP took this message directly to Queen’s Park in our recent Seniors’ Day of Action on November 24.
