Born Yesterday is podcast about the many issues, decisions, and realities that come with aging.
From health and finances to family, lifestyle, and the subtle ways ageism shapes our society, this program is about staying informed, aware, and engaged in a world that does not always prioritize growing older.
Each episode features conversations with people who can help us better understand and navigate this stage of life.
Hosted by: Anthony Quinn, President of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP).
Episode 1
In this episode: Pete Bombaci, the CEO and founder of GenWell, Canada’s Human Connection Movement.
GenWell is a charitable organization tackling one of today’s growing challenges—loneliness and isolation. We dive into why this issue is on the rise, how it affects us all, and what solutions are out there to rebuild meaningful connection.
Episode 2
Elle Flanders is an artist and filmmaker who is helping to lead a new public conversation around death and dying. Through her work, including initiatives like the Kappy Lecture at McGill University, she’s using storytelling, art, and dialogue to bring what has long been a private or avoided subject into the open. She also carries forward a deeply personal legacy as the daughter of Kappy Flanders, a pioneer in palliative care who helped shape how we think about dignity, care, and meaning at the end of life. This conversation is about how we move from avoidance to understanding, and what it really means to prepare, individually and as a society, for what is ultimately inevitable.

About the title:
I’m calling it Born Yesterday. I won’t define how people are going to receive it, but my idea in choosing it was that the boomers know the phrase, “I wasn’t born yesterday” meaning they are not susceptible to bullshit… On the other hand, they actually were born some time ago, at least 62 years ago, and embrace the wisdom they have gained over the decades – and have many novel topics that are unique to this life stage… and they are sharing, in the largest number ever, the experience of aging in the 21st century.
