Halton Chapter October 2012 Community Meetings

Information posted October 4, 2012

Chapter Chair addresses packed house at Halton Meeting

September Chapter meetings in Milton and Burlington were very well atended and we hope to build on this as our year progresses as we bring in speakers and presentations that are of interest to seniors across our region. In the photograph above members enjoy the discussion at our September meeting in Burlington.

Our October  Chapter Community meetings will again be held in both Milton and Burlington. The same presentations will be featured at both locations.

Holding meetings in these two locations significantly increases our meeting space and also has the added benefit of allowing members who cannot attend at one location to consider attending at the other. Both meetings are open to everyone in Halton Region.

Our Milton meeting will be held on Wednesday October 10th at the Seniors Activity Centre, 500 Childs Drive, Milton.

Our Burlington meeting will be held on Tuesday October 23rd at the Seniors Centre, 2285 New Street, Burlington.

Our meetings at both locations will be held in the evening. Doors will open at 6.30pm and the meetings will take place between 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Coffee and tea will be available.

The topic for our October meetings will be:

The importance of defining your future, and how it can be easily accomplished.

The presentation will address issues facing people who are now retired or are nearing retirement.

Both meetings will begin with a welcoming address from our Chairperson, Tom Carrothers.

Tom will also provide an update on your CARP Halton Chapter and CARP National activities.

This will be followed by our keynote speaker, Mr. Doug Dahmer. Doug is CEO and Founder of “Designing My OK”, a unique retirement planning process.

Doug is passionately committed to solving the unique challenges and issues facing baby boomers as they prepare for a retirement which is being redefined.

Over his 18 year career in the financial planning industry, Doug has become an expert in both the financial and non-financial aspects of planning for the second half of life. Through his involvement in an associated company, T4 Tax, he has an extensive understanding of tax planning. Prior to his career in Financial Planning, Doug spent 16 years in senior management positions of several well-known corporations focused in the area of strategic business planning.

His innovative talents have led to the creation of the ground-breaking tools and systems which have evolved into one of the most comprehensive retirement planning processes in the business. The “Designing My OK” process empowers individuals to visualize their future and then develop a step by step action plan that will allow them to financially support the life they are dreaming of.

Doug holds an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University and a Masters of Business Administration Degree from York University. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and is also a qualified member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (TEP).

There will be a break midway through the meeting during which you will be able to chat to Doug and to obtain information from our sponsors, see below.

The meetings will conclude with a few closing remarks from Tom and our 50/50 draw. We encourage you to support this draw as proceeds help defray the costs of putting on our meetings.

We will be very pleased to welcome the following sponsors who will be at both our Milton and Burlington meetings.

Designing My OK,

Chartwell Retirement Residences,

Halton Police Constable Wendy Moraghan,  with information on senior fraud.

ListenUp Canada will also be available to discuss any hearing related issues you may have.

Our meetings are free. We look forward to welcoming all members and their friends.

Please support your local Chapter.
