Some observers say we’re in the midst of a national pension meltdown. I t’s not that we didn’t see it coming. But the battering of the economy and the stock market has raised the volume of the alarm bells. Some businesses won’t be keeping their pension promises, retirement savings are shrinking, and some people are faced with the prospect of selling their home, and looking for another job to survive into their late 60s and beyond. The sky may feel like it’s falling, but Susan Eng,among others, says there are solutions. Ms Eng is a tax lawyer and national Vice President of Advocacy for CARP – Canada’s largest advocacy organization for the 45+.
