From time to time CARP receives inquiries from British expats with regards to the ongoing case before the Grand Chamber of the European Court for Human Rights. Partners in the International Consortium of British Pensioners, including the Canadians Alliance of British Pensioners (CABP) were seeking annual index-linked increases for the pensions British expats received from the United-Kingdom. In late March of this year, the Court ruled that the UK could continue to withhold these increases. According to CABP, this affects some 155, 450 Canadian pensioners.
