Chapter Community Meeting – March 22nd

Halton Chapter will be holding our next Community Meeting on Tuesday March 22nd at the Burlington Seniors Centre, 2285 New St. (Adjacent to the Library and Arena).

Doors Open at 6:30 pm — Meeting from 7:00pm to 9:00pm

“Exercise your brain, stimulate your mind”. This is the fun filled and informative theme for our March Community Meeting.

The presentation is enjoyable and informative – come out for the laughs alone and leave with a ton of information.

Overview of Evening:

Our evening will begin with opening remarks and National Updates from our Chapter Chairperson, Tom Carrothers.

We will then be introduced to Duncan Young from the Ottawa Street YWCA in Hamilton. Duncan is the Senior’s Active Living Centre Supervisor at the Ottawa Street location. He will be leading us through an interactive presentation entitled:

“ACHIEVE IT”, “Exercise Your Brain, Stimulate Your Mind.”

This is a very hands on presentation designed for audience participation and enjoyment. Each person will complete a variety of word exercises, long and short puzzles and other challenges.

Duncan will also explore the basic functions of the brain and provide a variety of tips and tricks to improve an individual’s ability to process problem solving information and to improve perception of everyday basic tasks. All of the hands on exercises can be practiced at home and each person will leave with a package of other exercises they can do at home as well.

Following this presentation we will have a short break allowing everyone to socialize with other members and friends and to meet our Chapter volunteers.

After the break we will spend a few minutes on CARP, update you on our Chapter activities and answer any questions you may have.

We would also like your suggestions for topics for future meetings and advocacy issues.

The meeting will adjourn between 8:30pm and 9:00pm with closing remarks from Tom.
