MAY NEWSLETTER

Greetings From Chapter Chair Welcome to our May CARP PEI Newsletter!

Dear Friends,

Looking out one’s window the signs of growth abound. Our CARP PEI membership is growing, thanks to those of you who are helping introduce others to CARP. Some of you have become CARP Ambassadors and we congratulate you.

I was discussing this at our recent May 4th CARP PEI informal session here at my home in Summerside. Imagine this media first, the PEI CARP Chapter 21 has shown exceptional growth during the 2011 spring and summer seasons with our membership numbers rising from 600+ to well over 3000. Members are excited with the prospect that we are now a Seniors’ force to be reckoned with government. With this backing the coming fall provincial election empowers CARP Island leaders and members to now speak with clout to the Provincial candidates re the adage “WIIFS” – What’s in it (your platform) for Island seniors.

I truly believe, “If it is to be – it’s up to me.” And yes, it IS UP TO US the Island’s Senior Population.

I challenge you in the next 90 days to help with this important change. Ask your friends, family, neighbours and acquaintances if they will support the Island Seniors’ and federal Advocacy CARP program here in Chapter #21.

We want to recognize you for your efforts. Please email me at carp.pei@gmail with the names of those you have helped join.

I applaud each and every one of you in our membership for committing to our CARP PEI growth. We are much smaller than the other provinces, but we have heart. Like Nike says, “Just do it!”

May you have your best MAY ever with all your new friends! Did you know that a stranger is just a friend you haven’t yet met. Wear your CARP pin and carry your membership card with you. Carry a subscription card(s) from your Zoomer magazines to share. Be sure to print Ch. #21 on it.

When you are finished with your Zoomer magazines, give them to someone else or an office waiting area or a new friend. This is our CARP recycling program!

I welcome your comments and willingness to help with phoning, and assistance at Island CARP events. Do you have a skill or talent you would like to share/ teach others? What else would YOU like to see CARP PEI involved with?

Sincerely,

Barbara
