Brockville & Thousand Islands ZOOMER of the Month!

Congratulations Mary Clayton!

Our August 2011 Zoomer of the Month is a devoted mother and wife, hard worker, best friend and one of the most kind and generous people you could ever hope to meet.  There is however, a lot more to Mary than meets the eye!  At 60’something’ Mary, a regular walker, decided to challenge herself and join a local Learn to Run program. Naturally she was skeptical and uneasy about the new goal she set for herself, particularly amongst a younger group of people, but that wasn’t going to stop her!  Mary succeeded in her program and never looked back.  Three years later, Mary is running local 5k and 10k races, completed several half marathons and competed in the Senior Games in August 2010.  She has found better health, joy and friendship amongst her “Street Gang” fellow runners and continues to inspire everyone she meets.

Thank you Mary Clayton for being an inspiration and a courageous role model! You’ve taught us that it is never too late to set a challenging goal for ourselves and age is NEVER an excuse!
