PRE-ELECTION FEVER!

WOW! – What a great turnout!   Between CARP members and guests from Fairview Mennonite Home we filled the room.

Thanks for an excellent job of hosting go to our in-house M.C. Allan Ramsay who, together with our special guest and moderator, Dr. Mike Lawrie ran this event in style.   Your Chair, Pat, was “on the bell” generously provided by Fairview, and because our Candidates were so respectful of their time and their opponents time, she hardly needed to use it.

The pre-submitted questions were answered in rotation by our Candidates, Kathryn McGarry, Liberal Party, Atinuke Bankole, NDP Party, Allan Dettweiler, Libertarian Party and last but not least Rob Leone, PC Party.   There was time for some excellent questions from the floor and the event wrapped at 8:00 p.m. – right on time.

Our special thanks go to Erica Tennenbaum of RBC Dominon Securities, for sponsoring the event and providing lots of lovely bottles of water which were certainly appreciated, and to our Events Chair Susan Bridges for a great job of organization.

VOLUNTEER FAIR:

Benefits Chair Bill O’Neill and Volunteer Luanne Hancey at the Volunteer Fair.

On September 24th some of us spent the day at the Volunteer Cambridge Fair in the Cambridge Centre Mall – thanks go to Marian Maynard for making the arrangements, and to all those who volunteered their time to ‘man’ the table.   We did succeed in getting some exposure for CARP Chapter 41, and hopefully encouraging new members.

KEEP POSTED:

Our Benefits Chair, Bill O’Neill and Vice-Chair, David Mogg, are working on Affinity Partners, and Susan is working on our next event.

Your Board has decided to hold events bi-monthly, so we are looking forward to getting together again in November.   Tune in and keep in touch.
