CHAPTER 41 TAX PRESENTATION

Tax advice from someone who knows!

Our members in attendance were pleased to hear from Paul Drouillard, owner of Profit Accounting Support & Service Inc., at our last meeting on March 13, 2012.

Paul spoke to us on various forms of income to seniors; deductions from income available to seniors; tax credits to reduce taxes payable; tax credits available to seniors; tax strategies to consider and gave us some good references to help guide our tax planning:

Service Canada www.servicecanada.gc.ca; Revenue Canada www.cra.gc.ca; tax tips www.taxtips.ca and last, but not least, his own website at www.profitaccounting.com

Following a break we were given some excellent advice on planning for the future by Marlene Watson, Family Service Counsellor at Dignity Memorial Homes, and Marlene treated us to some delicious snacks for our break.

The presentations were well received by our appreciative attendees, and there was time for some socializing and the presenters stayed to answer questions from our members.

Although we enjoyed our location at Langs, we are still looking for something with on-site parking and kitchen facilities.  If you have any ideas we would be pleased to hear from you.  We are trying to find a venue which does not charge us, but that’s easier said than done.

We are also looking for additional volunteers to serve on committees, in particular someone with computer know-how, and someone to act as Secretary in place of Claudette who will be leaving us soon.

If you can help with any of the above please contact us by email to [email protected].

Keep tuned for further news and information on upcoming events.
