Announcements from the Chair:

Our Chairperson recognized the passing of Terry Little, 1943-2012, a past Chair of the Brantford Chapter, and a tireless worker on behalf of seniors in the Brantford area.   Terry will be missed.

The Canadian Walking Academy held their first public seminar on June 27th, featuring Dr. Klaus Schwanbeck, founder and President of Nordixx Pole Walking Canada.   Members of our Chapter and the K-W Chapter 25 attended the seminar which demonstrated the benefits of Nordic Pole Walking – the seminar included a “Hands on” demonstration.   One of our future programs will include a demonstration by our benefit partner Valerie Armada of Dynamic Strides Inc.

We have been contacted by Michael Francis, promoter of Boomerbash, to ask if our members have any interest in attending a dance evening with music of the 50/60 rock genre.   For information please see their website at www.boomerbash.ca, and let us know if you have an interest.   They are proposing to give CARP members a 25% discount off the show ticket price and a V.I.P area.   At this time we have no information on dates.

VOLUNTEERS:

As usual, we are looking for volunteers.

Chapter 41 needs your help in volunteering to assist on Committees and at the Board level.  Board level means attending bi-monthly meetings, usually held on the last Friday of a month at 8:30 a.m.    We are currently looking for a new Vice-Chair

NEXT MEETING:

We are excited to announce that our next meeting will be held at the new Heritage Meadows Retirement complex on Hespeler Road.   The meeting will include a tour of the facility.   This doesn’t mean we are leaving Langs, but we thought our members would like to take a look at what’s new for Seniors in Cambridge and are looking forward to this opportunity.   We will be sending out a Newsletter prior to this event.

There will be no summer meetings, and the Heritage Meadows event will be held on September 25, 2012, from 2 – 4 p.m., so mark it down, and check here for updates.

Your Board wishes you all a Happy Canada Day and great summer.
