Newcomers Choir tours Seniors Homes and Provincial Legislature (The National’s “Only in Canada” Segment)

Saint-John’s, Newfoundland: An amateur choir made up of new Canadians of all ages and all walks of life has been embracing the Canadian Christmas spirit by touring seniors’ homes and even by performing at the Provincial legislature.  A decade ago – the Association of New Canadians discovered the key to teaching newcomers English using a universal lingua franca: music.  CBC’s “The National” ran this heartwarming holiday story in the December 19th 2012 edition of “Only in Canada”.
