Nova Scotia M.P. takes Minister of Revenue to Task over Tax Forms

Cape Breton M.P. Rodger Cuzner to Minister Shea: “I ask that you review your decision in this matter to provide a strategy that better addresses the concerns of seniors and the poor.”

Federal M.P. Rodger Cuzner (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia) copied CARP on an open letter he drafted and issued to Minister of Revenue Gail Shea.  In his letter, Mr. Cuzner stated that he had received many complaints from his constituents about the new tax form policy.  He outlines why the move was poorly handled and explains how it will disproportionately affect seniors and low-income persons.  He concludes by requesting that Minister Shea review the decision and devise a strategy to better address the barriers faced by seniors and those who live with low-income.  It is an excellent letter and echoes CARP’s concerns and recommendations.
