CARP responds to the CMA's News Release

On Monday August 19th, 2013, the Canadian Medical Association issued their National Report Card revealing the need for a comprehensive strategy for senior’s care.  CARP was called upon to comment.  Susan Eng, CARP VP of Advocacy was interviewed by both CTV News and AM740:

” CARP welcomes the support for a national seniors’ care strategy. But more important is sustained funding especially for home care, something the federal government has resolutely refused to address specifically, calling it a provincial responsibility. The provincial premiers also pledged to address seniors’ health care. All welcome messages. We are waiting for demonstrable results.  The doctors should also be naming specific changes that they would support, like house calls or greater involvement of nurse practitioners, which we have not heard form part of the CMA’s official policy position.”
