National Seniors Day is an occasion for all Canadians to appreciate and celebrate seniors. October 1st was designated as National Seniors Day by the Government of Canada in 2011 to “Celebrate the Continuing Contribution of Canada’s Seniors”. (The United Nations has also designated October 1 as the Day for Older Adults.) Since National Seniors Day was initiated in 2011, CARP chapters across Canada have selected October 1 as a day to raise awareness of CARP’s contributions to our communities, by raising the CARP Flag at City Halls in communities across Canada.
