Halton Chapter October Burlington Meeting Review in Pictures

Information posted November 6, 2015

At our October Chapter Meeting in Burlington we had 86 members and their friends in attendance. We continue to be encouraged by the support for our meetings. It is after all your Chapter and we strive to present topics at our meetings that we feel are of importance to members and to our senior demographic. Chapter Chair Tom Carrothers is seen below welcoming everyone to the meeting

We had two presentations at this meeting beginning with Art Dyck of Legal Shield. Art explained “Identity Theft” and the many ways in which your identity can be compromised. Its bad enough having your identity “stolen” in the first place but the problems that you face in trying to restore your good name can be extremely difficult and complex. The message is to be aware of the dangers and pitfalls and above all make absolutely certain you do not give thieves the opportunity to obtain any information that would enable them to impersonate you.

Legal Shield were also a sponsor for our meeting and Art is seen below looking after their display.

We always have a break midway through our meetings to allow time for everyone to mingle and to visit our sponsors.

Our sponsors often have draws and visiting their displays not only allows time to gather more information about them but also allows time to sigh up for a chance to win a prize.

Our second presentation was given by Nathan Kupusa of Solutions for Aging. Nathan gave a more lighthearted look at retirement, and the various motivators that change over time and how we view retirement from simply thinking about it as something that will happen in the future to actually retiring and how indeed retirement needs change over time as we age.

Solutions for Aging are also a Chapter partner and more information can be found about them and all of our partners by clicking this link.

The last draw of the evening is for the 50/50 cash prize. This draw is important for Halton Chapter as the funds raised help cover the costs of putting on our meetings. Helen Papin was the winner and is shown below receiving her prize of $91 from Chapter volunteer Hugh Cass.
