The local Chapter of CARP (The Canadian Association of Retired Persons), together with Friendly to Seniors-Sudbury and the Parkside Older Adult Centre, will host a seniors’ housing information seminar on Nov. 17 from 2:30-4 p.m. at the Parkside Centre, 140 Durham St.
Affordable housing for older adults in Greater Sudbury has been identified as a major concern in surveys undertaken by both CARP and Friendly to Seniors-Sudbury.
“It is the main reason for arranging this event and will feature input from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, who are expected to reveal the challenges faced in providing accommodation for this growing segment of the population, but will also reveal what other communities have done to address the issue,” organizers said in a release.
Invitations have gone out to builders, city councillors and staff, and the session is open to the public, especially older adults. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
