CARP Fights for Door to Door Delivery

DOOR TO DOOR DELIVERY: TASK FORCE RELEASES ITS REPORT

On June 7, 2016- CARP made submission to the Task Force for the Canada Post Review. CARP firmly believes that door-to-door delivery must be continued. Wade Poziomka, Director of Policy, advocated on behalf of seniors and Canadians with mobility issues.

The Task Force released its report which can be found here. The report reveals the following:

· 96% of Canadians who receive door-to-door delivery are satisfied, as opposed to 68% who were converted from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes.

· 92% of Canadians are resistant to change that would affect mail service to those with mobility issues.

· 68% of businesses and 94% of Canadians believe that mail is highly important and that Canada will always need a postal service that is owned and operated as a public service.

“The Report re-affirms CARP’s position that door-to-door delivery must be continued” said Poziomka. “There are options available to the government, but any choice that increases the hardship of our members with mobility issues or the disabled is unacceptable to CARP.”
