The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) has produced a number of resources addressing fraud in Canada. This bulletin was created to make you aware of the “Tech Support Scam.”

Fraudsters will pretend to work for Microsoft or another technology company, and attempt to convince you that there is a security problem with your computer. They’ll try to aggressively scam you into paying for a solution, when in fact nothing is wrong at all.

CARP’s “Get Scam Smart” booklet contains information about other types of scams circulating around the country.
