Adjusting to the dark

Home safety
Common sense measures such as using night lights (the kind that plug into wall outlets) in hallways and bathrooms can go a long way for improving home safety. Portable night lights also come in handy when sleeping in unfamiliar surroundings such as a hotel or friend’s home.

And be sure to keep halls and stairways clear of all objects. Tack down any loose carpets or rugs.

A final tip: Make the world a brighter place by having your eyes checked at least once a year. And if you have cataracts, it’s better to have them removed sooner rather than later.
