This study examines if low doses of a drug called levetiracetam (LEV) can help improve brain signalling in people at risk of dementia.
Eligibility
● 55-85 years of age
● Family history of dementia in a parent or sibling
● Concerns about memory
● No diagnosis of cognitive impairment or dementia
● Willing to undergo memory testing
● Able to undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
What does the study involve?
● Cognitive testing and questionnaires
● Blood work and genetic testing
● Brain imaging at Toronto Western Hospital
● Daily medication: LEV for 4 weeks and placebo for 4 weeks
