New Chapter Direction Needs Further Membership Support

With the start of a new year, brings changes within the Halton Chapter Executive Team.

Hugh Cass, our Chair for several years, has resigned the position of Chair, but will stay with the Executive until June.

Dr. Gordon Atherley, our recent Advocacy, Chair has resigned from the Executive to take on a new exciting business opportunity.

Neville Brown, our Interim Treasurer, recently resigned from the Executive.

Harry Bowers, our founding Chair, has recently moved to the Hamilton area that will limit his involvement in the Chapter.

Mel Matthias, our Program Chair, may be limiting his involvement in the Executive due to professional reasons.

James Clark, our Temporary Treasurer, is staying on the Executive until a replacement for that position can be secured, which he hopes is as soon as possible.

Mary Gardner, our Executive Team Secretary, has her present term ending in June. In order to keep the momentum of the Chapter moving forward,

Greg Metrakos, has agreed to be the Interim Chapter Executive Team Chair until our next Chapter Annual Meeting in June ’09.

Yes, WE NEED MORE HELP to move our Chapter forward! Please consider volunteering for the following positions ASAP: Fund Development – seek sponsors, special events, advertising Chapter Treasurer – budget prep, accounting and reporting Publicity – newsletter, press releases, media contacts, website Personal Involvement=2 to 3 hours per month for any position.

MP Mike Wallace Hosts Annual Seniors’ Pension and Tax Seminar in February Mark on your calendar, Wednesday, February 18, 2009 to attend a very informative Seniors’ Seminar at the Burlington Central Library (2311 New Street). Mike Wallace will be hosting the 3rd Annual Seniors’ Pension and Tax Seminar from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Included in the free admission seminar will be representatives from Canada Revenue Agency and Service Canada, so bring your questions to be answered.
