New Ontario Seniors’ Housing Tax Credit Starts in 2009

Beginning in 2009, the New Ontario Senior Homeowners Tax Grant will be provided to help eligible senior homeowners with low and moderate income pay their property taxes.Eligible senior homeowners will be able to obtain a grant of up to $250 in 2009 to help out. With the new grant, most eligible seniors will receive more property tax relief than under the current system. Applications for the 2009 grant and the Ontario Tax Credits (OTC’s) will be contained in the 2008 personal income tax returns, available early in 2009.
