CARP Backs Universal Pension to Cover Those Without Plans

Sheryl Smolkin, editor of Employee Benefits News Canada, says some in the insurance industry are skeptical. The industry is balkanized by regional regulations; Alberta and B. C., for example, are proposing similar plans.

“Our pension system is fragmented. We need this at the national level, but it will be interesting to see in what form it emerges and how much it gets watered down by vested interests.”
