Chronic Pain: The Elephant in the room that no one wants to see

Having given a short overview of the magnitude of chronic pain in our country, in my next column I will discuss certain regions and provinces in Canada that have established coordinated and integrated care for chronic pain, a care that includes prevention, wellness programs and self management approaches (even before pain hits) and smooth transition of the chronic pain sufferer all the way through from the family doctor’s office to the other end of the spectrum, in organized interdisciplinary pain programs if needed.
