Julian Fantino, the former OPP commissioner who is now an MP and the Minister of State for Seniors, says he believes that the current laws are adequate, but need to be used more effectively.

“I believe there is plenty of legal prudence in the current Criminal Code. What I would advocate though is that when these cases do come before the courts that we prosecute them vigorously and that we pursue sentences that truly reflect the abhorrence that we have for this type of crime,” Fantino told Canada AM.
