BC Finance Minister's Statement on Pension Reform

I welcomed the letters from the Ontario and federal government in advance of the meeting in PEI. For two years BC has been advocating for changes to the pension system in Canada that will ensure British Columbians and all Canadians have adequate retirement income. We will actively participate in the working group preparing options for the Ministers of Finance to consider in late fall regarding CPP expansion and a private sector framework to fill in the gap for individuals who dont have an employer facilitated pension. CARP has been advocating for better retirement income security through submissions to provincial consultations.
