2010 CARP Conference on Aging & Longevity

Billed as a ‘mini-ideaCity’, this one-day conference hosted by ZoomerMedia Ltd. founder Moses Znaimer presents some of the leading minds and practitioners in the fields of healthy aging, wellness, longevity and radical life extension. (All speakers are given a 17-minute time limit.)

This information-packed day also includes music, live entertainment, breakfast service, conversation breaks, networking opportunities and a wine reception.

The 3rd annual 2010 CARP Conference will take place on 28 October from 9:30am – 5pm at Toronto’s Intercontinental Toronto Centre, 225 Front Street West.

Since 1982, David has written about science, medicine, the environment and biotech for The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Salon, Science, and Fortune.

NATALIA & LEONID GAVRILOV On Human Longevity 10:12am – 10:29am

Fellows of the Gerontological Society of America Natalia and Leonid Gavrilov are a husband-and-wife team who are working to unravel the secrets of human longevity. They work at the Center on Aging of the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago and are the authors of The Biology of Life Span.

WILLIAM REICHMAN [4] President & CEO, Baycrest 10:34am – 10:51am

Dr. William E. Reichman is an expert in geriatric mental health and President and CEO of Toronto’s Baycrest, one of the world’s premier academic health sciences centres focused on aging and brain function. In 2008, Baycrest received $20 million from the Ontario government and local donors to create a ground-breaking Centre for Brain Fitness. William believes that we have an opportunity to make major brain health progress in the 21st century, similar to cardiovascular health advances made in the 20th.

DR. ELKHONON GOLDBERG Chief Scientific Advisor, SharpBrains 11:21am – 11:38am

Dr. Elkhonon Goldberg is co-founder of SharpBrains, an online brain fitness centre based on the idea that cognitive abilities can be maintained or improved by exercising the brain, as physical fitness is improved by exercising the body. He is a Clinical Professor of Neurology at New York University School of Medicine and the author of popular science books such as The Wisdom Paradox: How Your Mind Can Grow Stronger As Your Brain Grows Older.

Fourteen-year veteran Brown Belt instructor Jennifer Hicks teaches NIA – a cardiovascular fitness practice that allows participants to experience the expressiveness and grace of dance, the power and explosiveness of martial arts, and the wisdom that comes from sensation through the healing arts.
