SEXUAL ASSAULT & VIOLENCE INTERVENTION SERVICES OF HALTON (SAVIS)

Sexual Assault is against the law and can occur at any age. Without permission, any form of sexual contact is considered assault. In many cases the person who commits the assault is not a stranger but someone who is well known to the victim. As with any form of abuse, sexual assault can be extremely difficult to talk about. In addition sexual assault survivors often do not know where to start when they need help.

If you are unsure SAVIS offers a free, confidential service in Halton region. SAVIS is a non-profit organization, provincially funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General.

Their mandate is to provide free, confidential and non-judgemental 24-Hr support to all survivors of sexual violence. SAVIS advocates against violence in the community at large and promotes prevention through community education.

SAVIS runs a free, confidential 24hr Crisis Line at 905 875 1555. Or you can visit their office which is located in Hopedale Mall (Third Line and Rebecca) in Oakville.

SAVIS also offers both individual and group counseling. They also offer accompaniment to any sexual assault survivor who needs to visit the hospital, the police or to court.

At SAVIS, confidentiality and privacy is of the utmost importance. They do not use call display and do not keep records of any identifying information.
