Fire Safety and You

Careless smoking.

The best advice is to smoke outside. NEVER smoke in bed or in a lounge chair or any location where you might fall asleep. Always dispose of cigarette butts in a safe manner.

Electrical Extension Cords and Power Bars.

Extension cords are intended for temporary use only. They are not intended to be used as permanent wiring. Over time the insulation will become brittle posing not only a fire hazard but also an electrical hazard.

Also with the increasing amount of electronic devices in the home Power Bars are in common use. NEVER overload a Power Bar or an extension cord. Where a power bar is used the type with a built in circuit breaker that will protect against overload is recommended.

Think about Fire Safety….…..NOW.

As a final word, remember it is human behavior and neglect that cause most problems. With properly installed and working alarms and by following a few simple fire safety practices you will significantly reduce the risk of being caught in a fire in your home or even worse, dying in a fire in your home.
