Halton Chapter Informative Meeting – Tuesday April 26th

Halton Chapter will be holding our next Informative Meeting on Tuesday April 26th at the Burlington Seniors Centre, 2285 New St. (Adjacent to the Library and Arena). The meeting is open to everyone in Halton Region and is not intended to be for Burlington residents only.

Doors Open at 6:30 pm — Meeting from 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Light refreshments, coffee, tea and cookies, will be available.

Meeting Highlights:

• Opening remarks and National updates from our Chapter Chairperson, Tom Carrothers.
• Tonight Joan Wallace of My Dignity Inc will talk about aging and the long-term care maze.
• A few minutes to ask questions, make suggestions and review recent chapter activities.
• Closing remarks from our Chairperson.

Overview of Evening:

Joan Wallace has 32 years of experience is eldercare, having worked in a variety of capacities including retirement home administration, government consulting, private and advocacy groups, lobbyist and educator.

The objective of this evening’s presentation is to empower us to act as our own advocates when long term care becomes a necessity for ourselves or our loved ones.

There will be a short break following this presentation after which we will spend a few minutes on CARP and answer any questions you may have.

We would also like to know if anyone has suggestions for future meetings. We will also review advocacy issues and update you on our Chapter activities.

The meeting will adjourn between 8:30pm and 9:00pm.
