Eldercollege Conference May 12-14, 2011 Capilano University

Never too late to learn

Third Age Learning Conference Coming to Eldercollege at Capilano University in North Vancouver

North Vancouver CARP Chapter Chair will be there!

Hundreds of delegates, workshop leaders, guest speakers and interested members of the public will descend on Capilano University from May 12 to 14 for the Third Age Learning Conference—a first of its kind in British Columbia. The Government of Canada has contributed funding to this initiative through the New Horizons for Seniors Program. Because of this, Eldercollege at Capilano University Continuing Education is hosting what is sure to be a lively exploration of how to effectively collaborate and enhance Third Age learning. Eldercollege, Third Age University, Lifelong Learning, Creative Retirement—call it what you want, but it is a burgeoning movement around the world, and one that’s alive and thriving (there are over 15 university- and college-affiliated programs and organizations in B.C. alone). They all do much the same things—organize courses, publish calendars and newsletters, fundraise, recruit volunteers and hold social events. Despite the commonalities there is very little communication between these groups, but not for long. In addition to the wealth of ideas sure to be generated during the conference workshops and plenaries, the major outcome of the conference is expected to be the establishment of a network association of Third Age Learning programs. Eldercollege at Capilano University Continuing Education is very excited to host the Third Age Learning conference. For more information, please contact [email protected].
