North Fraser Chapter held a successful First Annual General Meeting May 26th at the Coquitlam Canadian Legion hall. About 50 enthusiastic CARP members and guests attended to help officially launch the chapter.
The members adopted the Chapter By Laws (a copy of the By Laws is attached to this article) and selected 11 Directors to serve on the Board. Selected from the Interim Board were: Bruce Bird, Gordon Chu, Gail Hnatiuk, Janie Irwin, Dave Mannings, Ann McBride, Peter Skinder and Colin Tisshaw. The new Directors are: Lennox Akow,Richard Belair and Dominic Lombardi.
Following the business meeting, media personality and CARP Advisory Board member Monika Deol gave an inspiring presentation about CARP advocacy and how members can protect themselves from identity theft. The many questions and comments following her speech were a testament to the importance of the topics.
Coffee provided courtesy of the Austin Station Starbucks, and light refreshments, completed the evening.
We will plan our next members meeting at our June Board meeting and post the information on this site.
