There ain’t no flies on us! CARP’s first contact with the new Minister of State for Seniors

May 30th 2011: You may already know that CARP has issued an open letter to Alice Wong, the new Minister of State with a brief of our issues. What you might not know is how fast our chapter network and our partners allow us to work! CARP has already had the opportunity to make inroads with Alice Wong, the newly minted Minister of State for Seniors. White Rock/Surrey chapter chair Jack Mar and board member Denise Thompson were at the Richmond Focus on Seniors Expo yesterday where they were approached by the new Minister.

Since Minister Wongs interest in seniors issues pre-dates this appointment, she was already familiar with CARPs work. She said her first priority as Minister of State for Seniors is to meet with Susan Eng, CARPs VP of Advocacy. This is also what she told Libby Znaimer when she caught up with the Minister for a brief telephone interview immediately following her appointment. Minister Wong agreed to come to address a Chapter 11 event in the Fall, so stay tuned for a date and time. Thanks to Jack Mar, the very new Minister of State for Seniors is already a proud pin-wearing Honorary Member of CARP Chapter 11 (White Rock/Surrey).

We look forward to working closely with Minister Wong in the very near future! To read the press release, the open letter and the brief, please Read more
