Back by popular demand! Probate Law Changes and Estate Planning Meeting – May 22, 2012

Information posted April 25, 2012

Did you know that the Ontario government is proposing significant changes to Ontario’s Estate Administration Tax Act? Do you know what these changes are? And more importantly what these changes could mean to you?

This subject was first presented at our February meeting. However due to the overwhelming interest and the limitations of our meeting room we were unable to accommodate everyone who came. At the time we promised to repeat the presentations just as soon as we could.

For our May 22nd community meeting we are therefore very pleased to announce that we will once again be joined by Leony deGraaf  and representatives from the Wade Group who will discuss Probate law changes in Ontario and the impact this will have on estate planning that you and your executors need to know. To enhance the earlier material we will also gain an understanding of the impact these changes will have on final and estate tax submissions.

To fully understand these changes and how they might affect you please join us on Tuesday May 22nd for what we expect will be an informative evening. The meeting will take place from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at the Burlington Seniors Centre, 2285 New Street. We have reserved a larger room for this meeting

The meeting is open to everyone in Halton Region and is not intended to be for Burlington residents only.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and the meeting will take place between 7.00pm and 9.00pm.

Light refreshments, coffee, tea and cookies will be available.

We will begin with a welcoming address from our Chairperson, Tom Carrothers.

Tom will also provide an update on your CARP Halton Chapter and CARP National activities.

This will be followed by our keynote speaker, Leony De Graaf Hastings. Leony is a retirement and estate planning specialist. The focus of her presentation will be the changes to the legislation around wills, executors, trustees and probate and how those changes will affect you. Leony will address the changes in Ontario’s legislation and what these mean for those who accept duties as estate trustees and executors.
